We were at the cottages (Newell and Ainsboro - the two with porches facing the lake) the week before the fourth of July and had absolutely wonderful time - the weather was fantastic and the area is absolutely beautiful and also serene. How do I go about reserving the same week and cottages for 2006?
Thanks

Once again, Emily, our dog swam more than anyone. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves—very relaxing.
PS. My son Ethan, both last year and this has become great friends with Duncan, our neighbor. They plan to be pen pals

Another great vacation! Hot weather inhibited the fishing but Bruce reeled in a 20 ½” bass and five others from 14-18”. Lots of family times for cooperative meals, involving on big fish dinner—brook trout, perch and bass. We certainly plan to return again

Last year we vowed we would rent the cabin for two weeks. This year regretfully we didn’t. But this week was wonderful. Had nice visits with the family. Great sausage on the grill. Photographed a Great Blue Heron, read a lot. The few days due to changing weather. Slept like babies. On this last night we are enjoying a bonfire on the beach. We love the Lothrop Cottage

As I’m sitting here gathering my words to write down about another vacation spent on Lake Salem, I ‘m watching a loon gracefully float along the water. So peaceful, so quiet. As with every year, the time has gone by way too fast. The weather was good. Plenty of hot swimming days and other days a nice cool breeze for comfort. The river was the highest and the sand bar was covered with the most water were ever seen in the past year. Some nice walleye caught but they were hard to come by this year. Take care to all and we will see you next year.

This was our second summer on Lake Salem. The familiarly welcomed us as we drove up the lane. The kids felt it too and headed straight for the river to cool off. The summer heat found all of us spending time floating in the river. The clear blue skies gave way to violet sunsets and camp firs on the beach. We fished our “honey spot” and on the last day caught the biggest fish right in front of the front of the cottage. We added a motor boat and tubing to our activities this year. My wife is the reining “tubing queen” but the kids vow that they will take it next year. The ducks came around for their daily feeding, the eagle made an appearance and the sounds of nature did not disappoint waking up each morning on the back porch. We had a great week. It seems like we just unpacked and today we’re leaving and already looking forward to next year.

Thanks to everyone for another fabulous vacation---I so needed to get away and breathe and relax! Looking out at the lake in any and all kinds of weather is very soothing, and I love to sit here in front of a fire and then to sleep for long hours on the back porch with its fresh river breezes. And my journeys around the NortheastKingdom—to Bread and Puppet to Johnson to Island Pond—are always a wonderful opportunity to marvel at the landscapes and meet new people. Thank you Isabel and Madeline and Lewis and Rob and Julie. These two weeks have been wonder and restorative. Best to all of you

Had the best vacation as a family here. After looking for the “perfect” lake cottage, we have finally found it. Fishing drop off/weed line good for smallies (biggest 18-20”). Little Salem produced consistently pickerel 13-20”. Great easy fishing for the kids. Had best week of summer weather wise. Lake being used from 8 AM to 10 PM at times. Lewis Young was very attentive to our needs and respectful of our privacy. Thank you Ms Newell for letting us share this special place in the NortheastKingdom… hope to be back same time next year.

What a fantastic vacation we had with fantastic weather. It couldn’t have been better. The first week we spent here alone with our three kids. We enjoyed fishing--Ethan caught his first fish-- boating and swimming and a lot of relaxing in the hammock. The second week was a lot busier with my brother and family in the Ainsboro cottage and our friends the Sylvains in the Lothrop. What a party we had with all of the kids. We hate to leave and are really looking forward to coming back next year.

We had a fantastic week at Lake Salem this year! The weather was the best we’ve had in six years! Liam (9) and Duncan(7) had a great time swimming, fishing, and boating. They also enjoyed playing with the Gamble children (Ethan and Audrey) next door. Fishing was awesome this year too. The boys caught catfish, perch, bass, sunfish, and a strange sucker fish. We saw the loons again this year and the duck family visited. It was a wonderful relaxing vacation—we do not want to go
